2020 Can-AM CARavan Niagara on the Lake- Montreal CN May 5-14
Please come join us for a Spring CARavan through beautiful Canada and northern New York.
We have a fun-filled week of diverse activities, sights, and drives that are sure to delight all that attend.
May 5-6: Niagara on the Lake
You will experience the Royal treatment at the Prince of Wales Hotel in Niagara on the Lake,
where guests can expect nothing short of perfection. The tour begins with a welcome banquet
in this magnificent, historic, 18th-century hotel.
After breakfast at the Prince of Whales Hotel, we are driven by private coach to Niagara Falls. The grand and powerful Niagara Falls is composed of three sets of falls: the American Falls, Bridal Veil Falls, and Horseshoe Falls. It is here that we experience the raw power and sound of millions of gallons of rushing water that flows over the Niagara Falls every second.
Our journey will take us to the Hornblower Cruise. Only on this boat, we can get closer to the Falls than you can imagine, making this moment something that you will not forget. After our voyage, we will have lunch at the Hilton Watermark Restaurant overlooking the Falls. After lunch, we will take a private coach bus back to the Prince of Whales hotel to enjoy the charm of this 18th-century village with it's many shops.
May 7: Toronto
We will travel around Lake Ontario to Toronto where we will experience Canada’s most populous city. Toronto is the provincial capital of Ontario and the international center for business, finance, art, and culture. We will explore the many landmarks such as the sky-high CN Tower, mysterious Casa Loma Gothic Castle and take a short scenic boat tour of the harbor with views of the Toronto skyline. We will dine this evening at the spectacular revolving restaurant at the CN Tower. Our hotel accommodations will be at the Fairmont Royal York built by the Canadian Pacific Railway Company and opened in June 1929. It is considered one of the best of Canada’s Grand Hotels.
May 8: Kingston, Ontario
Kingston is one of Canada’s most historic cities. We will explore its charming shops and stores
along the Saint Lawrence River and enjoy a delicious meal in one of its many restaurants. Our waterfront hotel is the Marriott Delta Hotel.
May 9-10: Ottawa
Brush up on your French as we will head north to Ottawa, which is the capital of Canada. You will experience the charm of the two languages. It is located along the banks of the Ottawa River, which divides the Provinces of Quebec and Ontario. We will stay at the fabulous Fairmont Chateau Laurier. The hotel features original Tiffany stained glass windows and hand-molded plaster decorations dating back to 1912. The exterior walls are of this stunning hotel are constructed of Indiana limestone, the interior floors are Belgian marble and the roof is copper. We will tour the city by private coach, view the Tulip Festival in Commissioners Park, and visit the Royal Canadian Mint.
May 11-12: Montreal
We will depart Chateau Laurier and drive for about one hour to the Fairmont Chateau Montebello for a wonderful breakfast. After breakfast, we will drive through the mountains to Mont Tremblant in the Laurentian mountains located in the Province of Quebec. We will explore this quaint pedestrian village with stunning views of the mountains and Lake Tremblant. We can stop for a bit of shopping and a snack on our way to Montreal where we will stay in the splendid Hotel Place d’Armes located in Old Montreal. After breakfast, we will take a short walking tour and enjoy a tour bus that will allow us to hop on and hop off at places of interest to us individually. Dinner will be at a choice of restaurants walking distance from the hotel.
May 13: Thousand Islands and Clayton, N.Y.
After leaving Montreal, we will ride south along the scenic St. Lawrence River to the Thousand Island Parkway where we will cross into the US at the Thousand Island Bridge. We are planning lunch at the Ivy Lea Club and restaurant overlooking the St. Lawrence River. After lunch we will continue driving to Clayton, N.Y. for a visit to an Antique Boat Museum and a guided tour. After the tour, we will drive a short distance to the Thousand Islands Harbor House Hotel where we will spend the night and have dinner overlooking the St. Laurence River.
May 14: Rochester, N.Y.
After breakfast at the Thousand Island Harbor Hotel, we drive to Rochester, NY. When we arrive in the Rochester area, we will stop at the George Eastman Museum and Mansion located on the estate of George Eastman. He was the pioneer of popular photography and motion picture film. After this tour, we will drive a few blocks to the Strathallan Hotel. This contemporary design facility boasts of rooftop dining where we will enjoy a final banquet and conclude the CAN-AM CARavan.
