According to some, there were H8 Jensens 16 built- only 6 were sedans. Jensen LTD, purchased rolling chassis from Ford Motor Company with the Columbia 2-speed rear axle and purchased the overhead straight 8 engine 299 C.I. 4.9 liter, dual ignition from Nash Motor Company in Kenosha, Wisconsin.
Clive Cussler (the novelist) purchased this car and had it painted in the current 2-color selection and had the interior restored and engine rebuilt. He later sold the car to the Glenn Collection in South Carolina and they sold a package of 50 cars, including this Jensen to Disney Corporation for a Disney anniversary theme. These 50 cars were on display at Disney properties until the cars except the Jensen were sold off. The Jensen was then on display with the Queen Mary, Spruce Goose exhibit “Legendary Auto Show, Ghosts Myths & Legends” in Long Beach Ca.. until that closed in 1990. The car went into storage and later, sold to the current owner.
This is the only remaining original of the 6 Saloon bodied cars. Four cars had tops cut off, one was stored in a very damp building causing electrolysis to wreak havoc.
Currently, the car is here in northern California in the condition as seen in these photos. Now seeking the next caretaker. If you are interested in “the only one remaining” this certainly is it and with the provenance, it is a great opportunity for a car with distinction.
